ISG Security is proud to announce that it will provide security for the Landjuweel Festival 2024 for the third consecutive year, taking place from August 15 to 18, 2024, at Ruigoord, Amsterdam.
The Landjuweel Festival is Amsterdam’s oldest festival, originating in 1975 under the name “Het Vliegerfeest,” organized by the Amsterdam Balloon Company based in Ruigoord, also known for the annual Balloon Festival at Paradiso. Many artistic organizations and groups participated in the kite festival.
The successful mix of kite flying, cultural activities, and recreation caught on and was held four times a year in different parts of Amsterdam. The success of the Kite Festival led to the annual Landjuweel at Ruigoord: a multi-day open-air contest for artists, performers, and free spirits of all kinds from near and far.
The name was chosen to reflect the ideas of participation and collaboration with various other cultural and creative groups. ‘Landjuweel’ was a 17th-century contest for amateur poets and performers, which still exists in parts of Brabant and Flanders but as a contest for shooting guilds.
Today, Landjuweel is an annual traditional highlight at Ruigoord. The focus of the modern artistic event has shifted from a passive audience to an engaging one: a large part of the attendees at Landjuweel volunteer and contribute to the festival, not just creatively, but also in the more humble aspects of arranging, organizing, setting up, and dismantling. Thus, Landjuweel annually creates a festival suitable for all ages, where meetings and connections occur, and everyone can engage with the core values of Ruigoord.
